Dear Blender fan,

My name is Larry Lewis. I’m creating a weekly Webcomic/Graphic Novel called Blender, at www.dannyblender.com, and you can be part of it!

The Story:

Danny Bender is a 19-year-old kid from the ‘burbs. He doesn’t know what he wants to do with his life; indeed, he doesn’t really know who he is. He’s afraid he’s not a Man by his father’s definition, but knows he’s not a woman by any definition. He’s sure he’s not gay, but has had no ‘success’ with girls. He’s best friends with Eddie Niven, equally hopeless with girls, and they’re both great friends (and deeply in lust and love) with Linda Grant.

While working ‘temp’ in Seattle to get by as he figures things out Danny is accidentally infected with a modified virus and… by the next morning he’s female. He was fragile to begin with; this destroys her. It gets even stranger when, a few days later, he turns male again, then female, then male, then… Yeah, s/he gets to face a lot of issues in a hurry. Oh, and the company which made the virus wants him in a lab now, as do the secret funders of the research, and her dad wants her home for reeducation, and a female-supremacist group wants her blood. Then add in a shadowy group showing up all over, and there’s no time to just catch a breath and get used to it all!

Set mostly on a slightly-altered-Seattle’s Capitol Hill, Blender makes the most of the city’s rich physical presence and cultural milieu.

The Point:

Blender is my license to explore every aspect of sex and gender- personal/experiential, erotic, psychological, social, religious, political- everything. All the ‘sexual minorities’ are in here, as all are “stake holders” in the ongoing debate.

Blender’s dramatic, funny, action-packed, sexy, intellectual and political by turns, and will go to at least 1200 pages. It challenges stereotypes, and I try never to stereotype even the people and views I find ridiculous. I will not set up ‘straw men’, as that’s dishonest. I try, whenever possible, to use the actual words and arguments the ‘opposition’ uses in a truthful manner. There are religious conservative ‘bad guys’ in here, but there are also religious ‘good guys’. Likewise, there are nonreligious good and bad guys. I don’t think anyone will miss my points when I make them, but I don’t want anyone to be able to honestly say I misrepresented their views in the process.

Blender doesn’t just ‘tolerate’ diversity, it revels in it! Neither beauty nor love nor sex is the exclusive purview of any one age, physique, ethnicity, religion, orientation, mating model or anything else. The Constitution and rights in general are inherent- ours just for being born human- and the Civil Rights Movement was and is not about ‘gaining’ or ‘granting’ rights, but accepting that they were all of ours all along, and removing the barriers to their free exercise!

Blender is intended for any person old enough to consider his/her own sex and gender issues, though it’s uncensored, so many parents won’t agree… The information in it is accurate to the best of my ability, and I’ll gratefully accept any corrections or additions (with citations).

For $5.00 a week your link will be added to the Sponsors list and you’ll get your name and a one-line message on the front page*.

For $50.00 you’ll have your Business-Card banner on the front page ad rotation for an entire month, be added to the Sponsors page, and will have a one-line message on the front page...

For $300.00 a week you’ll have your Full-Width Banner across the top of Blender, your link highlighted, and will be able to put your own blog content* on the front page. To amplify the effect of your sponsorship I’ll provide an introductory message to send out to your own lists.

Many real organizations and businesses will be part of the story, so:

For $1000.00 I’ll guarantee a Notable Positive Inclusion of your organization in Blender- half due immediately, half when the page/s actually run/s. This is an ad which keeps on giving- a permanent part of the story. Every reader will see it and your place in the community!
